Here we are entering the last full week of April with May right around the corner. Time passes too quickly. Today I will enjoy a hike with my son. He is an avid birder and we'll walk for hours through the woods, fields, and wet lands looking for an elusive warbler or kinglet. I cherish these quiet times with him ... sharing our love of birds. I think back on the times my mother and I would sit at the window while she would identify a bird outside for me. Last year we had a Rose-breasted Grosbeak stop briefly at our feeder - a bird I had not seen in more than 30 years. I ran around the house yelling "Rose-Breasted Grosbeak! Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!". Surely the rest of the family thought I was crazy but my son came running and we celebrated our luck together.
A little something to share with you today ...
I hope you too have a moment to enjoy peaceful times today ...

LOVE this vintage creation---and we are birders here, too! I have never seen a rose-breasted grosbeak, but I have made similar "sounds" after seeing an indigo bunting, Baltimore oriole and pileated woodpecker!!! I am trying to teach my granddaughter different birds, too!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty. I love reading how you and your son enjoy birding together. Thanks for sharing..
