I (heart) friends ...

I just want to say how much I enjoy all of you.  The comments I recieve make my day ... I appreciate each and every one.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me.

The ladies at The Shabby Tea Room posted the prettiest picture as our inspiration piece this week.  Isn't it lovely?  I see lots of pinks ...  but it was the touches of blue-green, the pearls, roses, and the charming little heart clasp that spoke to me.  Even the background caught my eye!  So delicate and so sweet ...

I created  this card to share with you today.  I used the neutral tones of a background paper picking up on the rose motif just like the inspiration piece.  Marina Mist cardstock served as my base.  The doily adds another layer of delicate lace.  My ribbon is Marina Mist with a Baja Breeze Big Designer Button from the Candy Cane collection.  I just love these wide striped ribbons ... I use them often.

The heart is chipboard (On Board Mix & Match).  I painted it neutral, "antiqued" it with Sahara Sand and covered it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I LOVE IT!  There's more glittery goodness at Lil Red Wagon and Delightful Sketches.  My heartfelt sentiment is stamped in Marina Mist on Very Vanilla.  Again "antiqued" with Sahara Sand  ... and embellished with a Pearl.

Thank you for stopping by ... good night.

Red, Cream, Gold and dreaming of Christmas

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you were able to stop by today.  The design team at Colour Create Challenge selected a combination of Red and Gold paired with White or Cream.  Such richness!  I just couldn't resist.  It put me in the mood for Christmas ... which was perfect to participate in the "Christmas colors" theme challenge over at Fussy and Fancy!  Here's what I came up with ...

Aren't the papers just gorgeous?  The main print is from the Deck the Halls paper collection in our Holiday Mini Catalog.  The patterned strips are part of Jolly Holiday papers.  The Cherry Cobbler color was pulled out with the "Merry Christmas" greeting ... it's actually called Christmas Postcard.  I inked the edges a bit with Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla inks.  The image is just beautiful ... maybe the next projects I'll add some coloring!  On to the details....

I'm loving the Big Designer Buttons in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  They are larger than typical and just one is perfect for a project of this size.  Here I used the Cherry Cobbler color from the Deck the Halls collection.  I also used Mini Vintage Tags (in shimmery gold) stamped the letters with Cherry Cobbler and strung them on Linen Thread.  Another challenge this week at All Sorts Challenge was to use three punches.  That's exactly what was used to create my Very Vanilla flower.  Fancy Flower Extra Large, 5-Petal Flower Extra Large, and a small flower punch that has since retired from the Stampin' Up catalog.  After creating the flower, I sprayed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and added a Basic Rhinestone gem.  You can really see the sparkle in the photo below.

Before I go I have to share with you one of my favorite sites.  The designers at Etsy Inspired have found another talented artist.  They feature a new Etsy Shop every week and this lady is "over the top" when it comes to hair accessories.  Just look at these!

These images are among my favorites.  Do you see that hat?  Can you just imagine OWNING that?!  There is so much more to see at Pegasus Maiden ... I know my daughter wants one of everything!

Thanks for stopping by today.  It's late and time for bed ... sweet dreams!

Sooo Spooky

It's raining now and getting a bit chilly.  My dear daughter and I spent the day on the golf course.  The leaves are just beginning to change and I'm thinking Autumn like the wonderful ladies at Creative Card Crew.  They are sponsoring a theme related challenge this week.

This stamp set introduced in last years Stampin' UP catalog is still one of my favorites.  This House of Haunts is sooo spooky!  Following the color recommendations from the designers over at Colour Q proved to be quite a challenge.  At first I was doubtful but I soon learned this combination makes a great card for Halloween!  I think it's super cute.

Whisper White cardstock stamped in Early Espresso and sponged with the same along with Cherry Cobbler in the sky created my focal point.  Sticky notes gave me a perfect square for sponging.  A polka-dot background in Cherry Cobbler is from Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper and the matting is Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

The ribbon is Peach Parfait ... I love it's perfect peachy color!  A couple stick pins added my "bling" and a button is tied on with white string.  "Spooky" is a rub-on from the Spooky Night collection found in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I used Early Espresso cardstock with the edges inked in Whisper White Craft ink and punched with the Modern Label Extra Large punch.

You can see more "spooky" celebrations at Paper Cutz Challenge where they are all about Halloween this week!  I hope this project inspires you to make something of your own ... thanks for visiting!

Halloween ....

Hello everyone!  It was a gorgeous day ... bright blue skies, high 70's, and a brisk breeze reminding us of the fall weather to come.  My FAVORITE season of the year!

Did I tell you how much I love everything there is to offer in the Holiday Mini Catalog (see link on the left)?  Here's a sweet card that shows off just some of the fantastic new products!  Whisper White cardstock stamped with candelabra's in Basic Black ink serves as the card base.  The candelabra is one of 5 stamps in the Dark & Dreary collection!  Nite Owl designer series paper adds more pattern and a little color.  Our 1/2" Lace Trim and Black Flourish Designer Jewels provide texture.

The Spooky Night Rub-Ons are super cool!  I mounted mine on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then used the Distressing Essentials Kit to "smoke" the edges ... I did the same to the card base.  Layered on Basic Black cardstock it's the perfect focal point for my project.

The bright orange ribbon is actually seam binding I found digging thru my mother's old sewing supplies.  I can't imagine how old it must be and frankly am surprised it has held up so well!  I wonder what she would have ever used it on ... perhaps an old Halloween costume?

The black button is tied on with fuzzy black yarn.  I love the new Bitty Bat Large Punch so much that I actually made two bats!  The first I punched out of Basic Black cardstock and glittered with Black Chunky Essentials Glitter.  Then I punched out another bat from our Nite Owl paper which I layered on top of the black bat.  The glittered bat looks like a shadow!  ("click" on the photo so you can see it better.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today .. have a wonderful evening!

Back to school ...

Hello friends.  I didn't abandon you.  School shopping ... you know, finding just the right folder for science class and the perfect pair of shoes for that new dress ... took me away for awhile.  And more good news is that my back hallway/mudroom has a fresh coat of paint!  Yes ... that's right!  A new coat rack (freshly painted a beautiful "barn red") hangs on the wall.  I am still searching for art and I have to make my window treatments.  It's coming together nicely and I love it!

Speaking of my love for new things .. have you seen the new Holiday Mini Catalog from Stampin' UP?!  It's full of Halloween, Christmas, and more accessories ... I want at least one of EVERYTHING!  I just got a big box of goodies to play with.  Now that my painting is done it's back to the craft room for me.  I can't wait to get back to creating something - and with all my new toys!  Be sure to stop back soon ...
